Facebook will officially be 10 years old on tomorrow.  The social network has become the dominant platform in the social media space.  What have we learned about Facebook from a business perspective in these 10 years?  Well, here are three important facts:

• Facebook is used by 57% of all adults.
  
• 57% of those users visit the site on a daily basis.
• So far, it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

The Pew Research Center has a new survey where they have studied peoples behaviors in regards to Facebook.  It is great information for business owners who are looking to leverage Facebook in their marketing strategy.

There are a few features of Facebook that are a challenge for some business users however.  For example, if a business owner creates a Facebook fan page for their business, they will not be able to post a message to all of the people who have liked that page.  Facebook uses an algorithm that attempts to determine a person's desire to see any particular post.  So, even though you may post a message that you want all of your audience to see, the algorithm may determine that your businesses post is not so important and won't show it to your fan base.  Sucks doesn't it?  I know.  It's annoying, but it's what we have to deal with for right now.  Not all social networks operate this way.  Social media networks like Twitter for example does not filter it's posts, so if you post to your social network on Twitter, ALL of your followers will be get that post in their feed.
